As I spend a high percentage of my work day in Windows remote desktop sessions, this issue has been a pet peeve of mine for years. I mentioned it in a call with someone from Microsoft last week and a few minutes later he sends me this link.

You caused me to take the time to track down why it is that some machines have an accent color and others don't. This solves the above problem, too. It also is helpful because I use different accent colors on the 3 machines I spend the most time on to help me remember where I am. Only 2 of the 3 had accent colors set.

It would be cool to have a key set to dusplay remote hosts in a grid with labels and click one to switch hosts

I have 3 screens attached to my Gas South laptop. One of those screens usually has a full-screen Azure Virtual Desktop session from which I might be RDPed into other GS network machines or a full screen RDP session to my Infinite Energy laptop, from which I might be RDPed into other IE network machines. I use Remote Connection Desktop Manager to manage what may at times be several RDP sessions I am running, allowing me to go from one to the other easily without massive window clutter (but it can "undock" sessions if you need to see them side-by-side).
